JACOB WALLER
Director
Jacob is an alumnus of the Torrey Honors College and Biola University where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Cinema and Media Arts. Jacob is also pursuing an MA in Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology while developing formal logic curriculum for the Defendable Faith Institute. He has a passion to equip the next generation by preparing them to encounter the world of ideas for the cause of Christ.
J.P. MORELAND
ECA Advisor & Founder and Director of Eidos Christian Center
Dr. Moreland is a distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, and founder and director of Eidos Christian Center, Emmaus's partner in ministry. He has authored or co-authored 30 books, including Love Your God With All Your Mind, The God Question, and Body and Soul.

ELISABETH WOOD
Elisabeth is an alumna of Talbot School of Theology, where she graduated with a Master of Arts in Philosophy in 2024, and of Johns Hopkins University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Classics. Some of her favorite classes at Talbot include Socratic-style courses on Augustine and the doctrine of the atonement, as well as Philosophy of Mind with Dr. J. P. Moreland. She is very interested in the intersection of medicine and philosophy. She loves black tea (with milk and honey), Les Miserables, and The Lord of the Rings.
LAUREN MILLER
Lauren is a reader, a writer, and a lover of Jesus at heart. A graduate of The Torrey Honors College and Torrey Academy who currently serves as a Managing Editor with DeepRoots Bible Inc., she has been integrally shaped by the Great Books and is passionate about imparting the goodness, truth, and beauty of the greatest Book to students. She loves serving at her church, enjoying her family, and planning trips and gatherings with friends.
MEGAN FREITAS
Megan graduated from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies: English, Pastoral Counseling, and Health Sciences. Megan works at Activ8 Learning Center, specializing in English and executive functioning. She is passionate about education, teaching, and the pursuit of truth, driven by her deep love for Jesus Christ. With an affection for English, Megan especially enjoys helping students refine their reading and writing skills. In her spare time, she loves to study theology, philosophy, psychology, and health sciences via literature, podcasts, and other educational resources.
RENEE CARTER
Renee graduated from the Torrey Honors College and Biola University with a degree in Political Science. In Washington D.C., Renee worked with the US Treasury Department in the office of the Special Inspector General for Pandemic Recovery (SIGPR). She then worked for the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a think tank that researches government, politics, economics, and social welfare. You can find Renee reading novels, watching football with her husband, and baking all-things sourdough.
DAVID FUNG
With experience gained from the Torrey Honors College, David Fung has a passion for Bible and Theology, with the hopes of becoming a pastor. He loves directing theatre productions, being involved in his local church, and playing ultimate frisbee.
SARAH HOWELL
Sarah is an alumnus of the Torrey Honors College and Biola University where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy. Additionally, Sarah is a trained fine artist. Rather than entering a traditional art program, sarah was trained by Master Artists as a full time apprentice for four years in the classical tradition with a harmonious blend of impressionistic color. MAYA JOSEPH
Maya teaches our Atelier class and was once a student in Emmaus Classical Academy. She is currently earning her Bachelor’s degree at Biola University in Liberal studies Elementary Education and double minoring in Bible and Art. She loves painting, her favorite medium, and seeks goodness, truth, and beauty in everything she does. She is passionate about missions, art, teaching, a good pour over, hiking, and Matthew 18:3.
